Specificity: This antibody binds to human Fc epsilon receptor, but does not compete with IgE binding.
Target Information
FceR1 (Fc epsilonR1 alpha) is a subunit of the high affinity receptor of IgE. Fc epsilonR1 alpha is part of a tetrameric complex consisting of one alpha, one beta, and two additional subunits required for signal transduction.
This receptor plays a key role in triggering allergic responses. When allergen-bound IgE molecules cross-link FcεR1, mediators such as histamine are released, initiating inflammatory responses characteristic of allergic disorders like hay fever and asthma. The release of histamine and proteases also induces synthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, potent effectors of hypersensitivity reactions.
