Target Information
Metadherin (Metastasis adhesion protein), also known as MTDH or LYRIC, is a protein that localizes with tight junction proteins ZO-1 and occludin in polarized epithelial cells. It is recruited during tight junction complex maturation rather than acting as a structural component. Metadherin is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues and xenografts, with lower levels in normal breast tissue. It binds to lung vasculature through a C-terminal segment in the extracellular domain, and inhibition of this interaction has been reported to reduce breast cancer metastasis.
