Target Information
The HOXC11 gene belongs to the homeobox family of transcription factors, which are crucial for morphogenesis in multicellular organisms. Mammals possess four homeobox clusters (HOXA, HOXB, HOXC, HOXD), each located on different chromosomes.
HOXC11, part of the HOXC cluster on chromosome 12, binds to promoter elements of lactase-phlorizin hydrolase and may play a role in early intestinal development. An alternatively spliced variant encoding a shorter isoform has been described, though its full-length nature remains undetermined.
