Product Specific Information
- Predicted to react with bovine, chimpanzee, dog, mouse, pig, and rat based on sequence homology.
- In Western blot, this antibody detects a band at approximately 39 kDa in HeLa cell lysate.
- Rabbit anti-human Aurora-B kinase antibody detects Aurora-B kinase (AurB), a serine/threonine kinase that is the enzymatic core of the Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC).
Target Information
Aurora kinases associate with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation.
AURKB (Aurora B) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to K-fibers.
This complex functions in chromosome alignment and separation, histone modification, and cytokinesis.
The Chromosomal Passenger Complex (CPC) includes three non-enzymatic subunits:
- INCENP
- Survivin
- Borealin
These subunits determine the activity, localization, and stability of AurB.
Two CPCs exist during mitosis: one containing all four members and another consisting of INCENP and AurB.
The quaternary CPC functions during chromosome alignment and cytokinesis, while the INCENP–AurB complex may modify histone H3.
AurB is overexpressed in several tumors, including primary breast and colon cancers, and may be linked with Aurora-A kinase through a feedback mechanism.
