Product Specific Information

  • Predicted to react with chimpanzee, mouse, rabbit, and rat based on sequence homology.
  • In Western blots, a band at approximately 55 kDa is detected from heart whole cell lysates.
  • Rabbit anti-PPAR delta antibody detects peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta (PPARD), a member of the nuclear hormone receptor subfamily.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) family. PPARs are nuclear hormone receptors that bind peroxisome proliferators and regulate peroxisome number and size in cells. They mediate various biological processes and may be involved in chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, and cancer.
PPAR delta acts as an inhibitor of ligand-induced transcription activity of PPAR alpha and gamma, functioning as an integrator of transcription repression and nuclear receptor signaling. Its expression is elevated in colorectal cancer cells and can be repressed by the tumor suppressor protein APC. Knockout studies in mice suggest roles in myelination, lipid metabolism, and epidermal cell proliferation.
