Preparation:
This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Human CD66e (CEACAM5) (Met1–Ala685) and conjugated with APC under optimum conditions. Unreacted APC was removed.

Storage:
Store at 2–8°C for up to 12 months without detectable loss of activity. Protect from prolonged light exposure. Do not freeze. Sodium azide is toxic; dispose of properly by flushing with large volumes of water.

Target Information

CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal development in the gut and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors. It belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, containing one N domain and six immunoglobulin constant-like domains (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3).
CEA serves as a useful tumor marker for adenocarcinomas, helping to distinguish pulmonary adenocarcinomas (CEA positive) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely CEA positive).
It functions as a cell adhesion molecule found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia, mediating homophilic and heterophilic interactions. CEA plays roles in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune response modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, though not all are fully characterized.
