Product Specific Information
Preparation:
This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Human CD66e (CEACAM5) (Met1–Ala685) and conjugated with FITC under optimum conditions; unreacted FITC was removed.
Storage:
This antibody can be stored at 2–8°C for twelve months without detectable loss of activity. Protect from prolonged exposure to light. Do not freeze.
Target Information
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors.
CEA belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, consisting of one N domain and six constant-like domains (A1–A3, B1–B3).
Antibodies to CEA are useful for identifying the origin of metastatic adenocarcinomas and distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60–70% CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+).
CEA functions as a cell adhesion molecule and has roles in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
