Target Information

Poly(A)-binding proteins (PABPs) bind to the poly(A) tail present at the 3′ ends of most eukaryotic mRNAs.
PABPC4 (inducible PABP) is an activation-induced T-cell mRNA encoding a protein whose levels increase approximately fivefold upon T-cell activation.
It contains four RNA-binding domains and a proline-rich C terminus, and is primarily localized in the cytoplasm.
PABPC4 may regulate the stability of labile mRNA species in activated T cells and is also expressed as APP1 (activated-platelet protein-1) on thrombin-activated rabbit platelets.
It may participate in protein translation regulation in platelets and megakaryocytes or in polyadenylate binding/stabilization in platelet dense granules.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
