Target Information

Poly(A)-binding proteins (PABPs) bind to the poly(A) tail present at the 3′ ends of most eukaryotic mRNAs.
PABPC4 (also known as IPABP, inducible PABP) is an activation-induced T-cell mRNA encoding a protein whose expression increases approximately 5-fold upon T-cell activation.
PABPC4 contains four RNA-binding domains and a proline-rich C terminus, and is primarily localized in the cytoplasm. It is thought to regulate the stability of labile mRNA species in activated T cells.
Additionally, PABPC4 (also known as APP1, activated-platelet protein-1) is expressed on thrombin-activated rabbit platelets and may be involved in the regulation of protein translation in platelets and megakaryocytes or in the stabilization of polyadenylates in platelet dense granules.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
