Target Information
Poly(A)-binding proteins (PABPs) bind to the poly(A) tail present at the 3′ ends of most eukaryotic mRNAs.
PABPC4 (inducible PABP) is an activation-induced T-cell mRNA encoding a protein. Activation of T cells increases PABPC4 mRNA levels approximately 5-fold.
PABPC4 contains four RNA-binding domains and a proline-rich C terminus, and is mainly localized in the cytoplasm. It may regulate the stability of labile mRNA species in activated T cells.
PABPC4 is also known as APP1 (activated-platelet protein-1), expressed on thrombin-activated rabbit platelets, and may be involved in protein translation regulation in platelets and megakaryocytes or in polyadenylate stabilization in platelet dense granules.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
