Target Information
The WFDC2 gene encodes a protein belonging to the WFDC domain family. The WFDC domain (WAP Signature motif) contains eight cysteines forming four disulfide bonds at the protein core and functions as a protease inhibitor in many family members.
This gene is expressed in pulmonary epithelial cells and has been found in certain ovarian cancers. The encoded protein is a small secretory protein that may play a role in sperm maturation.
