WFDC2 유전자는 WFDC 도메인 패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. WFDC 도메인은 8개의 시스테인으로 이루어진 WAP 시그니처 모티프를 포함하며, 단백질 중심부에 4개의 이황화 결합을 형성합니다. 이 도메인은 여러 가족 구성원에서 프로테아제 억제 기능을 수행합니다. WFDC2는 폐 상피세포에서 발현되며, 일부 난소암에서도 발현이 보고되었습니다. 이 단백질은 정자 성숙에 관여할 수 있는 작은 분비성 단백질입니다.
