Product Specific Information
RP-75632 contains a purified 134 amino acid fragment (aa233–366) corresponding to the mature Inhibin alpha subunit protein with an N-terminal hexahistidine tag.
RP-75632 may be used as a positive control in Western blot assays.
Target Information
The inhibin alpha subunit joins either the beta A or beta B subunit to form a pituitary FSH secretion inhibitor. Inhibin negatively regulates gonadal stromal cell proliferation and exhibits tumor-suppressor activity. Serum inhibin levels correlate with granulosa-cell tumor size and serve as markers for primary and recurrent disease. In prostate cancer, inhibin alpha-subunit gene expression is suppressed and undetectable in poorly differentiated tumor cells. Because expression varies among gonadal and extragonadal tissues, inhibin may act as both a growth/differentiation factor and a hormone.
