This antibody reacts specifically to Histone H4 acetylated at Lysine 12 (K12ac) and shows no cross-reactivity with other acetylated lysines in Histone H4.

Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromatin in eukaryotes. Two molecules each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer, around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped in repeating units called nucleosomes. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and aids in chromatin compaction into higher-order structures.
The gene encoding Histone H4 is intronless, lacks polyA tails, and contains a palindromic termination element. It is located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
