Product Specific Information
1 µg/mL of MA5-45462 was sufficient for detection of NR2B in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Detects approximately 166 kDa. No cross-reactivity against NR2A.
Target Information
NMDAR2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors. NMDA receptors are involved in long-term potentiation, an activity-dependent increase in synaptic transmission efficiency, which is important for memory and learning.
They play a role in neuronal development and are implicated in disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death.
Overexpression of NR2B has been associated with enhanced learning and memory, whereas reduced expression is observed in aged, memory-impaired animals.
Phosphorylation of Tyr1472 on NR2B may increase synaptic NMDAR expression, contributing to synaptic plasticity.
NMDAR2B forms a heterotrimer with NR1, NR2, and NR3 subunits. Dysfunction is linked to epileptic encephalopathy and autosomal dominant 6-related mental retardation.
