Product Specific Information

  • 1 µg/mL of MA5-45464 detects NR2B in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
  • Detects approximately 166 kDa.
  • No cross-reactivity against NR2A.

Target Information

NMDAR2B is a member of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) class of ionotropic glutamate receptors. These receptors are involved in long-term potentiation, a mechanism underlying memory and learning. NMDAR2B plays a role in neuronal development and is implicated in neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, and ischemic neuronal cell death. Overexpression of NR2B enhances learning and memory, while reduced expression is associated with cognitive decline. Phosphorylation at Tyr1472 may increase synaptic NMDAR expression, contributing to synaptic plasticity. Dysfunction of NMDAR2B is linked to epileptic encephalopathy and mental retardation.
