Product Specific Information

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV.

Super Bright 600 is a tandem dye excited by a violet laser (405 nm) and emits at 600 nm. Recommended filter: 610/20 bandpass. Ensure instrument compatibility.

When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Light Sensitivity: Protect vial and stained samples from light.
Fixation: Samples can be stored up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark using IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333) with minimal impact on brightness and FRET efficiency.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. Expressed mainly on T-helper lymphocytes, but also on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue-level expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain brain and gut regions. CD4 participates in T-cell activation through interaction with the T-cell receptor complex and tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known (RefSeq, July 2017).
