Product Specific Information

The SK3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59-kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, T helper cells, and monocytes. CD4 is an HIV receptor; SK3 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction. SK3 and RPA-T4 recognize distinct epitopes.

Super Bright 600 Dye:
Tandem dye excited by violet laser (405 nm) emitting at 600 nm. Recommended filter: 610/20 bandpass. Use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Fixation:
Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product # 00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product # 00-5333) for up to 3 days at 2–8°C in the dark.

Light Sensitivity:
Protect from light to prevent photo-induced oxidation.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and acts as an HIV co-receptor. Expressed in T-helper lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. At the tissue level, detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and some non-lymphoid tissues. CD4 aids T-cell activation via association with TCR complex and Lck kinase. Also implicated in neuronal damage in immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
