Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase that belongs to the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions at the site of synthesis. LIPG likely plays a physiological role in modulating lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG has been shown to reduce HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency elevates HDL cholesterol levels in animals. LIPG exhibits substantial phospholipase activity and may be involved in lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology. It is a member of the TG lipase family, characterized by its lid region providing substrate specificity. LIPG acts as a carboxyl esterase that hydrolyzes high-density lipoproteins, emulsifies triglycerides, aids in fat digestion, and binds to heparin.
