Product Specific Information

The OKT3 monoclonal antibody reacts with an epitope on the epsilon-subunit within the human CD3 complex. It has potent immunosuppressive properties and is effective in treating renal, heart, and liver allograft rejection.
CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon) are essential for proper assembly and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and all mature T cells. Crosslinking of TCR initiates intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.25 µg)/test.
A test corresponds to staining a cell sample (10⁵–10⁸ cells) in 100 µL final volume.

Target Information

CD3 complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals and regulating TCR surface expression.
It includes CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, members of the immunoglobulin superfamily on chromosome 11.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of peripheral blood lymphocytes and thymocytes, absent on B or NK cells.
Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
May play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, survival, and proliferation.
