Target Information

FKBP12 is a member of the immunophilin protein family involved in immunoregulation and protein folding/trafficking.
It acts as a cis-trans prolyl isomerase binding FK506 and rapamycin, and interacts with intracellular signaling proteins such as type I TGF-beta receptor.
It also associates with intracellular calcium release channels and coordinates multi-protein complex formation of the skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor.
In mice, deletion of the homologous gene causes congenital heart disorder known as noncompaction of left ventricular myocardium.
