A 1:2,000 dilution of PA5-77839 was sufficient for detection of Calnexin in 10 µg of HeLa cell lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis. Detects the C-terminal domain of Calnexin (~90 kDa). Weak detection observed in Chicken, Drosophila, and Xenopus tissues.

Target Information

Calnexin (also known as IP90, p88, p90) is an approximately 90 kDa integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It functions as a molecular chaperone, aiding in the proper folding and assembly of polypeptides. Calnexin associates with MHC class I heavy chains, partial complexes of T cell receptors, and B cell membrane immunoglobulins, but not with completed receptor complexes. It retains incompletely folded proteins in the ER. Unlike soluble ER resident proteins that contain the KDEL sequence, calnexin lacks this sequence but has positively charged cytosolic residues ensuring ER retention. The protein includes a 461-amino-acid luminal domain, a 22-amino-acid transmembrane segment, and an 89-amino-acid cytoplasmic tail.
