Product Specific Information

Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with the primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Suggested positive controls include placenta, bladder, breast, or ovarian carcinoma tissues.

Target Information

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in pathological processes including arthritis and metastasis.
Most MMPs are secreted as inactive proenzymes that are activated upon cleavage by extracellular proteinases.
The MMP1 gene encodes a secreted enzyme that degrades interstitial collagens (types I, II, and III) and is part of a gene cluster located on chromosome 11q22.3.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
