Product Specific Information
AA Sequence of recombinant protein:
NSYPGCPSSY DGYCLNGGVC MHIESLDSYT CNCVIGYSGD RCQTRDLRWW ELR.
Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine EGF. Anti-Murine EGF-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Sandwich ELISA:
To detect mEGF by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Murine EGF (500-P174G) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant mEGF.
Western Blot:
To detect mEGF by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant mEGF is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Packaging:
500-P174GBT-1MG will be provided as 2 × 500 µg.
Target Information
EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR), a 170 kDa protein kinase. Activation of EGFR initiates diverse cellular pathways in response to environmental stimuli. Upon EGF binding, EGFR forms homo- or heterodimers with other family members, each initiating distinct signaling cascades through recruitment of SH2-containing effector proteins.
EGF is expressed in kidney, cerebrum, prostate, and salivary glands, and acts as a potent mitogenic factor. The phosphorylated receptor recruits adapter proteins such as GRB2, activating downstream cascades including:
- RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK
- PI3K-AKT
- PLCγ-PKC
- STAT modules
Research suggests EGF also plays a role in NF-κB signaling. Defects in the EGF gene are linked to hypomagnesemia type 4, and dysregulation is associated with certain cancers.
