Target Information
Voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) proteins are abundant pore-forming proteins located in the eukaryotic mitochondrial outer membrane and also expressed in the plasma membrane.
They play essential roles in cellular metabolism and apoptosis regulation, mediating metabolite exchange (ADP/ATP, succinate, citrate) between cytosol and mitochondria.
VDAC1 in the plasma membrane contributes to apoptosis regulation through its redox activity.
