Target Information
Voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) proteins are abundant, pore-forming proteins located mainly in the mitochondrial outer membrane and also expressed in the plasma membrane. They play crucial roles in cellular metabolism and apoptosis regulation. VDAC enables exchange of metabolites such as ADP/ATP, succinate, and citrate between cytosol and mitochondria. VDAC1 in the plasma membrane may regulate apoptosis via redox activity.
