Product Specific Information
This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotypes on natural NK cells.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in the clearance of immune complexes from the circulation. It also mediates cellular cytotoxicity and can enhance viral infection processes.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, both located on chromosome 1.
- FCGR3A: Expressed on NK cells as a transmembrane glycoprotein
- FCGR3B: Expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) with a phosphatidylinositol linkage
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with immunodeficiency 20 and susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
