Product Specific Information
This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotype on natural NK cells.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in clearance of immune complexes, cellular mediated cytotoxicity, and enhancement of viral infections.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, located on chromosome 1.
- FCGR3A: Expressed on NK cells, anchored via transmembrane peptide
- FCGR3B: Expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN), anchored via PI linkage
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with Immunodeficiency 20, susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
