This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotypes on natural NK cells.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in immune complex clearance, cellular cytotoxicity, and enhancement of viral infections.
The FCGR3A gene shares high similarity with FCGR3B on chromosome 1.
- FCGR3A: Expressed on NK cells, membrane-anchored via transmembrane peptide
- FCGR3B: Expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN), anchored via PI linkage
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with:
- Immunodeficiency 20
- Susceptibility to recurrent viral infections
- Systemic lupus erythematosus
- Alloimmune neonatal neutropenia
Alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
