This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD231 (TALLA-1, tetraspanin 7), a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in neuronal tissue and T-ALL.
Target Information
TSPAN7 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily (tetraspanin family). These cell-surface proteins have four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction involved in cell development, activation, growth, and motility. The encoded protein is a cell-surface glycoprotein that may regulate neurite outgrowth and form complexes with integrins. This gene is associated with X-linked mental retardation and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington’s chorea, fragile X syndrome, and myotonic dystrophy.
