This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotype on natural NK cells.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and plays a role in immune complex clearance, cellular mediated cytotoxicity, and enhancement of viral infections.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, located on chromosome 1.
FCGR3A is expressed on natural killer (NK) cells as an integral membrane glycoprotein, while FCGR3B is expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN).
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with immunodeficiency 20 and linked to susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
