Mouse anti-Bovine CD40 antibody, clone IL-A156 recognizes the bovine CD40 cell surface antigen, which is expressed by B lymphocytes and a subset of T lymphocytes.
Reconstitute by adding 1 mL distilled water.

Target Information

The CD40 antigen is a single chain glycoprotein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor/nerve growth factor superfamily. It is expressed on all B cells except plasma cells, and also found on some epithelial cells, carcinomas, and lymphoid dendritic cells.
CD40 plays a crucial role in immune and inflammatory responses such as:

• T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching
• Memory B cell development
• Germinal center formation

AT-hook transcription factor AKNA regulates CD40 expression for cell interactions. TNFR2 interacts with CD40 and mediates signal transduction.
CD40-CD40L interaction is essential for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, implicated in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
Diseases associated with CD40 dysfunction include Type 3 Hyper-IgM immunodeficiency and CD40 ligand deficiency.
