Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

GAD-65 and GAD-67 are members of the group II decarboxylase family, catalyzing the rate-limiting step in GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) synthesis from L-glutamic acid.

  • Localization: GAD-65 is associated with synaptic vesicle membranes, while GAD-67 is distributed throughout the cell.
  • Function: GAD-67 maintains basal GABA levels; GAD-65 is transiently activated under increased neurotransmission demand.
  • Significance: Loss of GAD-65 impairs GABA neurotransmission; loss of GAD-67 is lethal.
    Two isoforms exist due to alternative splicing: predominant GAD-67 and minor GAD-25.
