This antibody is specific for human and mouse AKT protein phosphorylated at S473.
BLAST analysis indicates cross-reactivity with AKT pS473 from human, mouse, rat, and chimpanzee (100% homology).
Cross-reactivity with AKT2 and AKT3 has not been determined.
Target Information
AKT1 (PKB alpha) is a serine/threonine kinase that regulates cell survival. It inhibits apoptosis and promotes cell cycle progression by phosphorylating multiple targets across cell types, including cancer cells.
Activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors, Akt promotes survival via phosphorylation and inactivation of forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9.
The AKT pathway is a major target for cancer drug discovery.
