Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature. Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only before immediate use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Mouse Serum. Reactivity is observed against recombinant GFP (Aequorea victoria) by Western blot. No reaction is seen against RFP.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains green fluorescent protein (GFP), which emits light in bioluminescence reactions. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular organisms. As a fusion tag, GFP enables localization studies, protein movement tracking, and analysis of subcellular dynamics.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autocatalytically. It absorbs blue light (395 nm) and emits green light (508 nm) without requiring additional cofactors. GFP fluorescence is stable and species-independent, suitable for monitoring gene expression, protein localization, protein–protein interactions (yeast two-hybrid), and FRET experiments.
