This antibody recognizes and binds the non-linear/conformational epitope of the N protein of SARS-CoV and also binds the SARS-CoV-2 nucleoprotein.
Target Information
Human coronaviruses are the major cause of upper respiratory tract illnesses such as the common cold. They are positive-stranded RNA viruses with large genomes (27–31 kb). The infection begins with the viral spike protein binding to host cell receptors. The spike protein is the main surface antigen, while the 46 kDa nucleocapsid protein is a major immunogen useful for early diagnostics.
SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant coronavirus protein. Due to its strong immunogenicity, it has potential diagnostic value.
