Specificity: This antibody binds the amino acid residues between 11–19 of the N protein of the SARS-CoV as well as SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) nucleocapsid protein.

The first step in coronavirus infection is binding of the viral spike protein (139 kDa) to host cell receptors. The spike protein is the main surface antigen of the coronavirus.
The most prominent protein in SARS virus-infected culture supernatants is a 46 kDa nucleocapsid protein, suggesting its strong immunogenicity and potential diagnostic value.
SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein is associated with nucleic acid and is the most abundant viral protein, making it a useful target for research and diagnostic development.
