The 4H3 monoclonal antibody recognizes human CD137 ligand (4-1BB ligand, TNFSF9, CDw137L).

Target Information

CD137 ligand (CD137L) is a type II membrane protein belonging to the TNF superfamily. It is a co-stimulatory molecule expressed on antigen-presenting cells (DCs, monocytes/macrophages, B cells) and is upregulated upon activation.
Its receptor, CD137/4-1BB, is found on various cells including inflamed endothelial cells, enhancing monocyte extravasation. Activated T cells express CD137; engagement with CD137L promotes T cell proliferation, IL-2 secretion, survival, and cytotoxic activity.
CD137L is expressed in most B-cell lymphomas (mantle, follicular, diffuse large B-cell) but absent in Hodgkin and T-cell lymphomas. It is also found in carcinoma cell lines, suggesting involvement in T cell–tumor cell interactions.
