Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody LL020 recognizes human Cytokeratin 6, a type II (basic) keratin that associates with Cytokeratin 16 and 17. Cytokeratin 6 is expressed in epidermis, outer root sheath of hair follicles, oral mucosa, suprabasal cells of stratified epithelia, and glandular epithelia. Mutations in the gene can cause inherited skin and hair disorders. LL020 may show some cross-reactivity with Cytokeratin 5.
Applications Reported:
LL020 antibody is suitable for western blotting, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, microscopy, and ELISA.
Applications Tested:
Validated for IHC on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissue using low pH antigen retrieval at ≤10 µg/mL. Optimal dilution should be determined by titration.
Purity: >90%, determined by SDS-PAGE

Target Information
Keratins 6 and 16 are expressed in keratinocytes undergoing rapid turnover in the suprabasal region (hyperproliferation-related keratins). Keratin 6 is found in hair follicles, suprabasal cells of internal stratified epithelia, and epidermis. It is strongly expressed in ~75% of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas and is associated with cellular differentiation. Epidermal injury induces CK6 and CK16 expression.
