The monoclonal antibody 74.1 recognizes all known forms of the 74 kDa intermediate chain subunit of mammalian cytoplasmic dynein.
Cytoplasmic dynein is a microtubule-stimulated ATPase responsible for movement of membrane-bound organelles toward the minus end of microtubules, commonly found at the centrosome. It is involved in the transport of lysosomes, endosomes, phagosomes, peroxisomes, mitochondria, and ER-derived vesicles to the Golgi apparatus.
During mitosis, dynein contributes to spindle positioning and chromosome movement via kinetochore localization.

This antibody recognizes dynein intermediate chain from human, mouse, rat, bovine, sheep, Xenopus, porcine, and Drosophila.

• Tested by western blot (reduced and non-reduced HeLa lysate) ≤5 µg/mL

Cytoplasmic dynein is a minus end-directed microtubule-based motor protein responsible for retrograde transport of membranous organelles from synapse to cell body.
The dynein complex includes two ~530 kDa heavy chains and intermediate chains of ~74 kDa and ~53–59 kDa.
