Product Specific Information

This antibody detects a 68 kDa protein corresponding to phosphorylated paxillin on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of NGF-treated rat PC12 cells, as well as calyculin A-treated human A431 cells and mouse macrophages.

Target Information

Paxillin is a focal adhesion protein and a substrate for several tyrosine kinases such as src, FAK, and p210BRC/ABL. Its tyrosine phosphorylation is influenced by cell-cell adhesion changes. Paxillin interacts tightly with FAK and Crk through its SH2 domain, independent of the extracellular matrix. Although initially identified in fibroblasts, paxillin phosphorylation may also play a role in neurite extension during differentiation.
