Target Information

Formin-like protein 2 (FMNL2) is a cytoplasmic phosphoprotein belonging to the formin homology domain-containing protein family. It includes DAD (diaphanous autoregulatory domain), FH2 (formin homology 2), and GBD/FH3 (Rho GTPase-binding/formin homology 3) domains.

Although the exact function of FMNL2 is not fully understood, it is suggested to play a role in the Wnt signaling pathway. Formin-related proteins are involved in morphogenesis, cytokinesis, and cell polarity. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described but their full-length nature remains undetermined.

FMNL2 has been associated with diffuse-type gastric cancer, breast cancer, chondrosarcoma, melanoma, and glioblastoma. It may be implicated in polarity control, invasion, migration, or metastasis through actin filament nucleation and may be regulated by Rho family GTPase.
