Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned, and individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
Desmin (~53 kDa) exhibits high tissue specificity, predominantly expressed in muscle cells (cardiac, skeletal, and smooth). Its expression is stage- and tissue-specific, induced during terminal development such as skeletal muscle differentiation.
In skeletal and cardiac muscle cells, desmin is localized in the Z-disk region and at the intercalated disk. In smooth muscle, expression is more heterogeneous.
Coexpression with vimentin has been observed in muscle-derived tumors (rhabdomyosarcomas, leiomyosarcomas). During myocardial dysfunction, desmin distribution changes dramatically.
