Target Information
STAT1 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1) is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors. It is activated by interferons (α, β, γ), EGF, PDGF, and IL-6, and regulates genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, immune responses, and lipid metabolism.
STAT1 plays a key role in mediating cell viability in response to various stimuli and pathogens. Located on chromosome 2, STAT1 is phosphorylated by JAK kinases and translocates to the nucleus to regulate gene transcription.
Among seven STAT types (STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, STAT5b, etc.), STAT1 shows a broad activation profile by ligands such as IFNs, gp130 family cytokines, and receptor tyrosine kinases.
