Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
STAT4 was originally identified using degenerate primers complementary to conserved regions of other STAT proteins. The STAT4 protein shows similarity to STAT1 (52%) and STAT3 (47%).
Functionally, STAT4 can be tyrosine phosphorylated by Jak1 or Jak2, forming homo- and heterodimers with other STATs. Tyrosine-phosphorylated STAT4 binds the IFN-gamma activated site (GAS), and serine phosphorylation is required for maximal transcriptional activity.
STAT4 expression is restricted to the thymus, spleen, and testis. It is activated by interleukin 12 (IL-12), which is essential for T-cell–independent induction of IFN-gamma and the development of Th1 responses necessary for defense against intracellular pathogens. STAT4-deficient mice show impaired IL-12–mediated Th1 development and enhanced Th2 cell development.
Recent studies show that IFN-α/β activation of STAT4 is required for IFN-γ production during viral infection.
