Product Specific Information
The HB5 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD21, an approximately 145 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed by mature B cells, follicular dendritic cells, and a subset of epithelial cells. CD21 serves as a receptor for complement component C3d and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). In association with CD19 and CD81, CD21 participates in a multimolecular complex with BCR and is involved in B cell activation.

- Recommended Usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test)
Super Bright 436 can be excited with a violet laser line (405 nm) and emits at 436 nm. Recommended filter: 450/50 bandpass or equivalent. Ensure instrument compatibility.
When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information
CD21 (complement receptor 2, CR2, C3D receptor, EBV receptor) binds C3 complement fragments and plays key roles in the uptake and retention of immunocomplexes, survival of memory B cells, and maintenance of humoral responses. It acts as a receptor for EBV and prions, and interacts with CD23, CD19, CD81, and Leu13 to form a signal-transduction complex involved in B cell activation. Genetic variations in CD21 are associated with susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus type 9 (SLEB9). Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
