Product Specific Information

The B3B4 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD23, a 45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on resting conventional B cells. Expression is modulated upon B-cell activation, while B-1 lineage (CD5+ B cells) do not express CD23. Soluble CD23 forms are biologically active and act as low affinity receptors for IgE, involved in regulation of IgE response and B-cell activation. CD21 is known to bind CD23.

Fluorochrome Information:
Super Bright 436 is excited with a 405 nm violet laser and emits at 436 nm. Recommended detection using a 450/50 bandpass filter or equivalent. Ensure instrument compatibility.

Staining Recommendation:
When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information

CD23 is a 45 kDa glycoprotein expressed on a subset of peripheral blood and tonsil B cells, and strongly expressed on EBV-transformed B lymphoblasts. It is identical to the low-affinity IgE receptor on B cells. CD23 expression is detected in neoplastic cells from B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia and certain lymphomas. Functionally, CD23 participates in B-cell growth, differentiation, and IgE production. Its soluble form acts as a potent mitogenic factor.
Diseases associated with CD23 dysfunction include chronic conjunctivitis and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
