Description:
The eBioSN4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD9, a 24 kDa tetraspanin family member characterized by four hydrophobic transmembrane domains. CD9 is expressed in platelets, eosinophils, basophils, pre-B cells, activated T cells, and neural cell lines. CD9 expression has been associated with malignant phenotypes, including high expression in non-T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. It plays roles in platelet aggregation, pre-B cell adhesion and migration, and T cell co-stimulation independently of CD28. The eBioSN4 antibody partially cross-blocks binding of another anti-human CD9 antibody, MM2/57.

Applications Reported:
Flow cytometric analysis, immunoprecipitation, and immunohistology of frozen tissue sections.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human platelets. Recommended ≤0.5 µg/test (100 µL final volume, 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

CD9 antigen is a glycoprotein expressed on developing B lymphocytes, platelets, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, stimulated T lymphocytes, neurons, and glial cells. It belongs to the tetraspanin family, spanning the membrane four times. CD9 regulates activation and aggregation in pre-B cells and platelets, possibly via integrin CD41/CD61 (GPIIb/GPIIIa). It is involved in cell motility, osteoclastogenesis, neurite outgrowth, myotube formation, and sperm-egg fusion. CD9 plays critical roles in cell adhesion, proliferation, and suppression of cancer cell motility and metastasis, acting as a metastasis suppressor in solid tumors.
