Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Lipoamide Dehydrogenase (Porcine Heart). Cross-reactivity against Lipoamide Dehydrogenase from other sources is unknown.

The L protein, also known as dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase, is a component of:

• Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex
• Alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex
• Branched-chain alpha-keto acid dehydrogenase complex

Mutations in this gene are associated with:

• E3-deficient maple syrup urine disease
• Lipoamide dehydrogenase deficiency
