Product Specific Information
Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration. For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Hexokinase [Yeast].
Cross-reactivity against Hexokinase from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
Hexokinases phosphorylate glucose to produce glucose-6-phosphate, initiating most glucose metabolism pathways.
This gene encodes a ubiquitous form of hexokinase localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane.
Mutations in this gene are associated with hemolytic anemia due to hexokinase deficiency.
Alternative splicing results in five transcript variants encoding different isoforms, some of which are tissue-specific.
Each isoform has a distinct N-terminus, while the remainder of the protein is identical among all isoforms.
A sixth transcript variant has been described but is not thought to encode a protein due to the presence of several stop codons.
